Bicycle-Friendly Berkeley Coalition - The Bicycle-Friendly Berkeley
Coalition is concerned with making Berkeley, California a more bicycle-friendly
city by helping to make bicycling safe, convenient and pleasant. This site
includes organization goals, events, a form for reporting bike hazards, and a
bicycle route map.
California Transit Association - The California Transit Association (CTA)
has over 250 members, including 80 California public transit systems, as well as
governmental agencies, transit industry suppliers, students, and private
citizens. The CTA site contains information about the CTA listserv, CTA
committees, updates on legislation, TDA Alerts (CTA publication), and a
calendar of events.
Peninsula Rail 2000 - Peninsula Rail 2000 is an all-volunteer transit
consumer group working to promote an upgraded and expanded CalTrain system to
serve the San Francisco Peninsula and San Jose-East Bay corridors.
Rides for Bay Area Commuters - Rides for Bay Area Commuters provides
services and information about commute alternatives in the San Francisco Bay
Area. This site contains information about carpool and vanpool ridematching,

San Francisco Bicycle Coalition - The Bicycle Coalition aims to

Transportation Management Association is a non-profit organization of building

Butte County Association of Governments (BCAG) - BCAG works in
cooperation with local government, state and federal agencies, and the public to
improve transportation in Butte County. This site includes information about the
BCAG board of directors, staff, committees, rideshare program, current work
plans, and a calendar of events. Also included are a Butte County map and sites
of interest, and a weather forecast.
Merced County Association of Governments (MCAG) - MCAG - the
transportation planning agency for Merced County - acts as an advocate for
highway, bikeway, and transit projects for local governments. This site includes
background information about MCAG and the cities it serves, and links to other
sites.
Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) - The Metropolitan
Transportation Commission is the transportation planning agency for the
nine-county San Francisco Bay Area. This site includes agendas, news releases,
projects, publications, statistics, and links.
Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) - SACOG is the
planning agency for Sacramento, Sutter, Yolo, and Yuba Counties, and the cities
of Davis, Folsom, Galt, Isleton, Lincoln, Live Oak, Marysville, Rocklin,
Roseville, Sacramento, West Sacramento, Wheatland, Winters, Woodland, and Yuba
City. The SACOG site contains background information about the agency; a meeting
and events calendar; a data center; and information obout training, air quality,
the Airport Land Use Commission, ridesharing, and SAFE (call box program).
San Luis Obispo Council of Government (SLOCOG) - SLOCOG is the
transportation planning agency for San Luis Obispo. This site includes board
agendas and minutes, advisory committee and grant information, publications,
study results, and acronyms.
Santa Barbara County Association of Governments (SBCAG) - SBCAG is a
voluntary council of governments formed under a joint powers agreement executed
by each of the general purpose local governments in Santa Barbara County. This
site includes SBCAG information, meeting schedules, and highway program
information for the region.
Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) - This site
includes background and program information, links, and city and county
profiles. Also included is a Commuting Information Center, which allows users
tolocate public transit, carpool, and park and ride information for their travel
destinations.
Ventura County Transportation Commission (VCTC) - The VCTC assumed
the transportation responsibilities and resources of the Ventura County
Association of Governments. This site includes a great deal of information,
including ridesharing/park and ride, traffic reports, senior and disabled
transportation. A highlight of the page is Free Goodies, which features free
wall calendars, posters, maps, frisbees, and bookmarks.

State Government Agencies |
|
California Department of Motor Vehicles - The DMV site contains
background information (including a revenue chart), division information, a
strategic business plan, press releases, DMV field offices, Fast Facts (e.g.,
birth verification and presence), and licensing requirements for DMV-related
businesses (e.g., driving schools and traffic violator schools). In addition,
DMV handbooks in both English and Spanish are available at this site.
California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) - Caltrans is
responsible for the design, construction, maintenance, and operation of the
California State Highway System, as well as that portion of the Interstate
Highway System within the state's boundaries. Alone and in partnership with
Amtrak, Caltrans is also involved in the support of passenger rail service in
California, and is a leader in promoting the use of alternative modes of
transportation. This site describes agency and information services, and is
beginning to include district information. Caltrans-developed software is

California Intercity High Speed Rail Commission - The High Speed Rail
Commission studies the feasibility of implementing a high speed rail system in
California. This site contains information about the commission's research
(e.g., ridership demand/market analysis and economic impacts), as well as
meeting information and agendas.
California Office of Traffic Safety - The Office of Traffic Safety is
charged with reducing the fatalities, injuries, and economic losses resulting
from motor vehicle crashes through the administration of the California Highway
Safety Plan. This site includes organization information, publications, news
releases, traffic safety topics, public service announcements, and legislative
information.
California Transportation Commission - The Transportation Commission
advises and assists the Secretary of Business, Transportation, and Houseing
Agency and the legislature in formulating and evaluating state policies and
plans for California's transportation programs. This site includes contact
information for Commissioners and program staff, a meeting schedule, and meeting
agendas.
South Coast Air Quality Management District - This site includes news
and information, rules, permits and compliances, business assistance, agendas

Bay Area Express Traffic - This site, provided by KPIX and Caltrans,
offers traffic report updates for the San Francisco Bay Area. The site includes
reports divided by geographic region, mass transit delays, travel advisories,
construction, and mountain road information.
California Highway Conditions - California Highway Conditions - a
service of Amdahl Corporation - allows users to check highway conditions
throughout the state. Users enter (or select from a list) the U.S. Highway,
Interstate, or State Route, to check current road conditions. Also included at
the site are links to California travel information and weather conditions.
Central Freeway Closure - This Yahoo category brings together
information from several agencies regarding the Central Freeway Closure in San
Francisco. Included are project information, maps, and alternative routes.
Enter Highway 17 - This site, sponsored by InterAct, provides a live
satellite feed of Highway 17. The images are updated every 15 minutes between
4:30 a.m. and 10 p.m.
Southern California Traffic Reports - The Southern California Area
Traffic Report is an experimental public service and joint effort between
Maxwell Laboratories and Caltrans to provide real-time freeway traffic
information to homeward bound commuters into their offices via the Internet. The
site includes freeway speeds for San Diego, Los Angeles and Orange Counties;
incident reports, construction closures, and flow rates for San Diego County;
and general road conditions for the entire state.
Traffic Bytes - Traffic Bytes, a service provided by the San
Francisco Newspaper Agency, provides resources for Bay Area commuters. The site
includes the archives of Commuter Chronicles (ongoing San Francisco Chronicle
series), a traffic news search, and alternative route maps.

San Francisco/Oakland Bay Area Transit Information - The Transit
Information Project, housed at U.C. Berkeley, provides instant online access to
transit information for the San Francisco Bay Area. This site includes
announcements, transit carriers, and regional transit information.
San Luis Obispo Regional Rideshare - This site includes rideshare
information, as well as information about public buses, shuttles, dial-a-ride,
taxis and charters, park-and-ride, and bike routes. Also included are
telecommuting and transportation links.
Southern California Transit Information Page - This site includes
schedules, maps, and information about Southern California transit agencies and
services.
Transit Routing - Southern California - This service, provided by the
VCTC, allows users to generate a trip itinerary using public transit by filling
out an online form. Users enter starting and destination points, day, time, fare
category, and special accommodations. Also included are options for the fastest
itinerary, fewer transfers, and minimal walking.

Cerritos College Advanced Transportation Technologies Program - This

contains PATH abstracts, reports, papers, and memoranda.
UC Davis - Caltrans Research Project - The Information Technology
Division of UC Davis is working with Caltrans to investigate telecommuting, the
use of data networking, community computer networks, multimedia, and video
teleconferencing. This site includes project status summaries, Caltrans project
reports, a multimedia presentation, and transportation research information.
UC Davis Institute of Transportation Studies - The Institute of
Transportation Studies performs research in the following areas: electric drive
vehicles, energy and environment, intelligent transportation systems, safety,
and travel behavior analysis. This site contains information on research
activities, personnel, outreach programs, publications, student programs, and
the telecommunications and travel research program.
University of California (UC) Transportation Center - The UC
